Mia R. Neal Funeral Director / Owner mia@nealandsummers.com

Mia R. Neal is the middle daughter of Tom and Becky (Cragen) Neal. She has lived her entire life in Martinsville and graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1983.

Mia joined her father, Tom Neal, at the family business in 1988 as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Prior to joining the family funeral firm, Mia had attended Vincennes University and Mid America College of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1986 with her degree in Mortuary Science.

After receiving her degree, she worked at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Homes in Royal Center and Kiwanna, Indiana, and also at Marraco Funeral Home in Logansport, Indiana for two years, serving her internship. Mia is a previous member of the Morgan County Business Women, as well as, a past member of the Fall Foliage Festival Board. She is currently a member of the Martinsville Kiwanis Club.

Mia takes great pride in serving the families who place their trust in Neal & Summers with “extraordinary service and compassionate care.” When she is not busy serving families, Mia enjoys traveling, camping and snowmobiling.

Nichelle Neal Dalton Funeral Director / Owner nichelle@nealandsummers.com

Nichelle is the youngest of three daughters born to Tom and Becky (Cragen) Neal. She was born and raised in Martinsville, where she continues to call home, work and raise her family. She married Thomas Eric Dalton in November 1991 and they have two daughters, Lebany Monique and Meredith Shae.

She graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1987 and then attended Indiana University in Bloomington. Nichelle had initially focused on studies in biology while at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN,  before changing direction and transferring to Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, Indiana. As a student at Mid-America, Nichelle served as the first female president of the Pi Sigma Eta National Morticians Fraternity and was a class officer.

After completing her studies in funeral service, she returned home to join her father and sister in the family business in 1990. She received her Indiana Funeral Director's license in 1991 and her certified Funeral Service Practitioner's License in 2006.

Nichelle's involvement in the community includes being a past President of the Networking Business Women of Morgan County in 1995-96, past member of the Morgan Hospital Foundation Board, past member and secretary of the Martinsville Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Poston Road PTO and a previous Morgan County Deputy Coroner. She has been actively involved in Indiana Funeral Director's Association for several years on various committees and projects, as well as, serving as District #7 director, Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President, President Elect and President from 2020-2022.

Nichelle's interest in funeral service evolved as she witnessed the relationships her father had made over the years and the urge to continue his legacy. She reflects on her first years working as a funeral director with a smile, recalling the multitude of heartwarming stories from families her father had served since 1967.

In her free time, Nichelle loves to spend time with her family, traveling, scuba diving, flower gardening, reading, and being outdoors.

Bob Carter Service Attendant

Bob joined the Neal & Summers family in January 2017, after retiring from the Martinsville Fire Department. He had served on the fire department for 35 1/2 years and ended his career as fire chief.

He is a lifelong Martinsville resident and graduate of Martinsville High School.

Bob and his wife, Bonnie, have been married for 33 years and are the parents of two sons, Jeremy and Ryan and one grandson, Christopher.

In his spare time, Bob enjoys riding his motorcycle and helping others.

Kathy Gilbreath Administrative Assistant / Visitation Attendant/Aftercare Specialist kathy@nealandsummers.com

Kathy Gilbreath has been with Neal & Summers since the fall of 2012. She is the smiling face many will see during visitations and services. Kathy also assists with many adminstrative tasks at the funeral home. 

Kathy is retired from the administration office with the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville.

She and her husband, Robert "Bob" Gilbreath, reside in Martinsville and are members of the Trinity Worship Center. She is also a founding member of the Fraternal Order of Police Ladies Auxiliary.

Kathy loves the personal contact she makes with multiple people working at the funeral home and says her compassion for others was her motivating factor in joining the staff.

She and Bob are beyond blessed with six children and thirteen grandchildren. She loves camping, traveling, shopping and spending time with her family.

Jamie Cook Cleaning Staff

Jamie has been with Neal & Summers since September 2012 and is a graduate of Martinsville High School. She is the daughter of Charles and Jan Anderson and is a lifelong residence of Martinsville.

She takes pride and joy in helping those around her and says everyday is like working with her family. Jamie and her husband, Travis, have two children, Alexander and Madison.

She enjoys shopping for antiques, reading, and puzzles.
