Nichelle- The past couple of months since my dad declined rapidly and then passed were like a whirlwind, and most of the time I felt like it was my role to be captain of a ship over which I had no control. But once Dad passed and you stepped into the picture. I felt a sense of comfort and reassurance that I hadn't felt for many years. I would like to thank the entire staff of Neal and Summers with a special hug to Corben Kinder. Due to the Coronavirus, Corben had to follow the guidelines to prevent spreading the virus and was unable to give out those hugs that are so needed by the families during the death of a loved one. We were unable to have calling hours, but the graveside service was special with the military providing a flag to my mother and taps being played in the cemetary. The service was streamed to their Facebook website and family members who could not attend were able to view the service as it was taking place. Every detail was taken care of (flowers for the graves' of my dad and brother) with a learning curve for us all during these stressful times. Thanks for keeping us all safe and still having a beautiful service.

When my husband passed, the staff at Neal and Summers were right there to make sure that our wishes and needs were met. They were always available no matter the time-day or night. The pre-planning was done in the comfort of our own home and that made it so nice. They are just like family. Richard had been so ill for several weeks and had lost a considerable amount of weight. At the viewing he looked just like he did before he was ever ill. They did an amazing job and I am so glad we let them take care of him. He received the best care possible. I could not have asked for better conditions. The staff, all of them, were very helpful, compassionate, informative, and cooperative. My husband was retired from Monon Rail Road as a Freight Agent and Telegraph Operator. We wanted to display his telegraph equipment, hats, jackets, and more. He was also an avid golfer (great golfer). He also participated several years in Senior Olympics, winning many gold and silver medals in every event. They displayed all of these things for us in different areas of the chapel, like professional directors. We heard many positive comments, from a lot of people from out of town and locals, about how great everything looked, the amazing facility, and the staff.

"Our family just wanted to share a blessing that some Morgan County families may not know about. Morgan County is truly blessed to have Neal & Summers Mortuary in our community. Allow us to share why we feel this way. On May 9, 2006, the worst day of our lives, our patriarch, Ken Noel, died. There was no thought as to where we would go to make arrangements for his funeral. We wanted to use Neal & Summers Mortuary. We had been to many calling hours and funerals there and felt very comfortable. However, we did not know just how comfortable we would be during our own sorrow. In fact, when he started doing funerals in his role as a minister, he was encouraged by Tom Neal to sit in on some funerals and begin to create his own style. When we walked in the building, we immediately felt very relaxed and wanted. As we began making the arrangements, Nichelle brought our family along the process that was needed. She was in no hurry nor did she try to pressure us into anything. We were so amazed at how comfortable she made us feel. If there was a question, she took the time to answer it completely and did not move on until everyone was clear with that particular detail. It went so smoothly, we could hardly believe it was over. We cannot thank her enough for the patience she had with us and the true concern she showed for our family. During the next few days, things would come up and we felt very comfortable coming in and talking to either Nichelle or Mia about whatever it was. We asked what was allowed in the funeral home, and they basically stated anything we needed or wanted. We were welcome to bring in food for the family, which turned out to be a lifesaver for my mother and her blood sugar issue. We felt so wanted and cared for it was hard to remember they were not a part of our family and sharing our grief too. The calling hours and funeral went without a problem and that is because of the employees working there that night, Mia Neal and Mark Manley, taking care of whatever we needed. The complete and honest care we received from everyone made the most traumatic moment of my life that much easier to handle. We felt they truly cared about what we were going through and did everything possible to make it as smooth as possible. Needless to say, words are not enough to express our sincere thank you to Neal & Summers Mortuary, and their employees. That is the reason we wanted to publicly thank them for their patience, care and all around professionalism. If any of you experience a traumatic moment, please remember this letter and know that they will treat you the same way - like family members. They are doing a much-needed job, but also a very hard job. It can't be pleasant for them, dealing with death all the time, but they sure hide it when it comes to meeting the needs of the family. May God continue to bless them all. We just wanted to make sure the good people of Martinsville know what a treasure we have in the Neal & Summers family."

The facility was so beautiful; the arrangements were perfect. Everything you did - the video, the music, the tape of the service right thru to the graveside, was done so beautifully and with such compassion and care. You are to be commended for operating in this manner. Many mortuaries do not. We received so many nice comments about the guitar and inscription of Daddy on the lid of Daddy's casket, and the display of Daddy's record albums and guitars. And the video - I thought most people had seen that done but so many said they'd never seen that before. I was so pleased and how you displayed Daddy's picture. I loved it!
