History

Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center has been serving Martinsville area families for years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.

"Martinsville's newest funeral home, Neal & Summers Mortuary is now open for business. Co-owners, Thomas E. Neal and James Summers, invite you to an open house on Sunday, April 29th. Shown is the new colonial style building of red brick, with white columns. The interior is richly carpeted, has central air conditioning and a basement lounge. The largest chapel will accommodate about 200 people. Decorated with green, gold and orange. Other equipment includes 2 oxygen equipped ambulances to serve Morgan County...."

In 1988 Mr. Neal's daughter, Mia R. Neal, joined her father in the funeral industry. Mia is a 1983 graduate of Martinsville High School and a 1987 graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service. Two years later, Mr. Neal's youngest daughter, Nichelle Neal Dalton, joined the family business. Nichelle is a 1987 graduate of Martinsville High School and a 1990 graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service. Built on a foundation of trusted service, the tradition continues today with Mr. Neal’s daughters as 2nd generation owners and licensed funeral directors serving families with extraordinary service and compassionate care for over 40 years.
